Fancine adds five news films to its next edition

The Fantasy Film Festival of the University of Málaga welcomes the films ‘The Girl With All The Gifts’, ‘Sam Was Here’, ‘Godzilla Resurgence’, ‘Headshot’ and ‘The Survivalist’ to its 26th edition, which runs from 9th to 17th November. Zombies join the festival with ‘The Girl With All The Gifts’, a film based on the novel written by M.R. Carey, and directed by Colm McCarthy, who has written episodes for series’ such as Doctor Who and Sherlock. In a world where a large part of the human race has been infected by an epidemic that converts them into a variety of creature thirsty for human blood, Melanie (Sennia Nanua) is a girl who has the key for the possible salvation. The little girl survives in a government facility with more infected kids, although they have not lost control of themselves like the rest of the infected have. The film, which has a cast including famous actors such as Gemma Arterton or Glenn Close, has been presented in other festivals such as Toronto International Film Festival or the Festival de Locarno.

Another new title is ‘Sam Was Here’, a production of Christophe Deroo that has taken part in L’ Étrange Festival and is the French director’s debut. The film takes us to California, where Sam travels through the desert looking for new clients. After a day of work where people look like they are avoiding him and even his wife is not answering his calls, Sam starts to listen to local radio. Thanks to that broadcast, he finds out that there is a child killer on the loose and the radio station encourages people to look for him, although Sam will start realising that everyone thinks he is the killer.

The third incorporation brings the big scream of Fancine – one of the biggest monsters in cinema history. From Japan comes ‘Godzilla Resurgence’.
